Paper Crane Games is a Los Angeles based independent game studio creating content for virtual reality platforms. The company was founded January 2015 by industry veterans Giancarlo Surla, Andy Marchal, and Robert Espinoza.
Paper Crane Games was founded in January 2015 by Giancarlo Surla, Andy Marchal, and Robert Espinoza. All three founders were ex-Neversoft developers and played key roles in the Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Guitar Hero, and Call of Duty franchises. After the introduction of the Oculus Rift and the merger between Neversoft and Infinity Ward, they felt that the timing was right to build their own studio focussed on creating high quality content for VR platforms.
In March 2015, Paper Crane Games released their first title, "Find Me for Google Cardboard"; a virtual reality hide-and-go-seek game. The following month, they released "The Lost Valley VR" for Oculus Rift; a virtual reality photographic excursion with dinosaurs. This title was well recieved and became an official selection for the Indiecade Showcase@E3 2015. Currently, the team is working on "Explorers Inc: The Lost Island"; an adventure game that expands upon the photography mechanic from "The Lost Valley VR" and marries it with environmental puzzling and exploration.

- "Our goal as a studio is to create unique and meaningful interactive experiences that engage players on a deep level. We believe in the emotional power of games, and their ability to elicit feelings of joy, sadness, and wonder. We want people to feel like our games were handcrafted for them; and that quality and polish aren’t reserved for big budget titles. We believe that the willingness to play and take creative risks are key to creating something special. We love the craft of game development and appreciate the opportunity to share our work with people who love games as much as we do."
